That’s me in the middle with my cousin, Heidi McAfee, on my right and my wife, Debbi, on my left. Heidi’s father Hans Link (Pfifferling) was my mother’s first cousin. Heidi’s grandfather, Adolph Pfifferling, and my Opa Karl were brothers.

Eva & John-Henry’s grandfather, Sander Pfifferling, was a first cousin to both my Opa Karl, and Heidi’s grandfather, Adolph Pfifferling.
Sander and his wife were deported to Theresienstadt in 1942.

Irene is the daughter of my mother’s cousin, Fudi Rosenberg.
Carola is the daughter of my mother’s cousin, Alfred Adler.

Eisleben Synagogue

The former synagogue in Eisleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Eisleben is not far from Halle/Saale, where my mother’s family was from

Eisleben is the town where Alfred & Pauline (Gutmann) Katzenstein lived. Alfred was Opa Karl’s first cousin and Pauline was Oma Julchen’s first cousin. The Katzensteins introduced Oma & Opa to each other. The Katzensteins were deported to KZ Sobibor from Halle/Saale on 1 June 1942 and perished there two days later.

Mildred Holmes

Mildred Holmes was my father’s first cousin. She was the daughter of my grandmother’s sister. I remember Mildred visting us several times in Milwaukee. In this photo she is dancing with her son, Michael, at his wedding. Michael’s bride, Rebecca, is seen on the left.

Harry Fleischhacker

Harry Fleischhacker was my father’s first cousin. He was the son of my father’s uncle, Felix Fleischhacker, who was married to my grandmother’s sister, Johanna Heynemann. Harry’s sister, Mildred, is in the previous picture. Felix is with his girlfriend, Ann.
